This workshop will help you explore different cultural meanings of respect to know how to work with, and manage diverse talent more effectively from different parts of the world.

Participants will be able to share insights to what they regard as respectful and disrespectful attitudes and behaviours, while identifying any similarities or differences between them, for knowing how to create a culture of respect for all in the workplace.

In this workshop you will be able to participate in an identity swap diversity awareness exercise, that will enable you to gain a greater understanding of what it is like being someone of an identity that is different to your own.

Participants will work in pairs to share insight to each other’s experience that directly challenged their identity.

Participants gain greater awareness and insights into difference. 

The workshop thus encourages greater tolerance and more harmonious working environments, as well as enhanced external customer/client relationships.

UNDERSTANDING CULTURAL DETERMINISM, ETHNOCENTRISM AND CULTURAL RELATIVISM IN THE WORKPLACE


This workshop explores the concepts of cultural determinism based on a belief that human behaviour in the workplace is influenced by cultural factors; ethnocentrism relating to those who are insensitive to other cultures and might not be aware of it; and cultural relativism regarding those who judge another person’s culture based on their own cultural standards, which could make it difficult to nurture an inclusive work environment.
